A borrowed metaphor
Kintsugi (金継ぎ, "golden joinery") is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum
Every break is unique, and instead of repairing an item like new, the technique actually highlights the "scars" as a part of the design
Sometimes in the process of repairing things that have broken, we actually create something more distinctive, beautiful and resilient
WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR VISIT
An intake session will last two hours, with ample time for a thorough history, an exploration of the issues bringing you into the office, and a collaborative effort to set initial goals for therapy. Follow-up sessions are one hour, and build on previous sessions to create momentum in your desired direction. You will collaborate in setting assignments for follow-up outside of session, to collect important data to bring back into session, and to trial and implement new strategies. Through all this, the space of the therapy session will be be a safe, holding area for challenging emotions, and this safety will allow for new and invigorating avenues of exploration.
